WELLNESS EXAMS
Wellness exams are a vital component of “preventive medicine”. The goal of preventive medicine is to find and treat diseases BEFORE they become serious. The old adage, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” holds true for our pets as well. Many advances in veterinary medicine have enabled many diseases which may have greatly shortened your pet’s lifespan in the past to be managed (if detected early) so that your pet can live a longer, happier life.
EMERGENCY CARE
An emergency is any accident or injury which threatens the cat's or dog's life. The following are the possible problems that can constitute an emergency:
-
Road accidents
-
Poisoning (such as antifreeze, xylitol, chocolate, rodent poison, etc.)
-
Burns and scalds
-
Bleeding from nose, mouth, rectum, coughing up blood, or blood in the urine
-
Choking, difficulty breathing or nonstop coughing and gagging
-
Inability to urinate or pass faeces (stool)
-
Injuries to your pet's eye(s)
-
Seizures and/or staggering
-
Fractured bones, severe lameness or inability to move leg(s)
-
Obvious signs of pain or extreme anxiety
-
Heat stress or heatstroke
-
Severe vomiting or diarrhoea – more than 2 episodes in a 24-hour period, or either of these combined with obvious illness or any of the other problems listed here
-
Refusal to drink for 24 hours or more
-
Unconsciousness
SURGERY
Apart from performing routine surgical procedures [neuters (spay and castration), minor mass excisions, etc.], we also perform additional procedures that include orthopaedics (bones - fracture repair, joints - stabilization of cranial cruciate ligament deficiency, muscles), and soft tissue surgery (skin, body cavities, cardiovascular system, oncologic (cancer) surgery, GI/urogenital/respiratory tracts).
LABORATORY MEDICINE
We practice evidence-based diagnosis, buoyed by our reliance on laboratory medicine (pathology). Diagnostic tests yield detailed results about a patient’s health beyond the physical examination. that helps in the decision-making when it comes to confirming a diagnosis. Pathology is the medical speciality concerned with studying the nature and causes of diseases, and it underpins every aspect of medicine, from diagnostic testing to monitoring chronic diseases.
DENTAL CARE
Regular dental care is important for your pet to avoid periodontal disease. Periodontal disease is where mucosal inflammation has progressed past the level of the gums leading to halitosis, inflamed gingiva, ulceration, gingival recession and tooth mobility.
DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING
Diagnostic imaging is the non-invasive method of making medical images of the body to diagnose disease. We have advanced imaging technologies available for our veterinary patients, of the same calibre found in a modern human hospital. Our diagnostic imaging capabilities include Digital Radiology and Ultrasound.
VACCINATIONS
Preventive medicine is important to protect your pet against diseases that are incurable and fatal. We vaccinate against viral and bacterial diseases that include rabies, distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvovirus and parainfluenza in dogs and cat flu in cats.
MICROCHIPPING
Microchipping is a permanent identification method for cats and dogs. It is a quick and efficient way of reuniting owners with their lost pets, even across international frontiers. A microchip is a small tube about the size of a grain of rice that contains a unique code (identification number) that is registered on a microchip database and should also be noted down on your pet's vaccination record. The chip is made of an inert material which means it has no power source and won't be rejected by your pet's body.
BOARDING
When holidays are around and you need peace of mind, we take care of your pet till you come back
GROOMING
Whether big or small, we groom them all - hair clipping, shaving, nail clipping (pedicure), shampooing, medical baths, etc
